Russia and Uzbekistan discussed industrial cooperation

Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov met with Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov.

They discussed the current state and prospects of cooperation in agricultural engineering, aviation, automotive, metallurgy, pharmaceutical industry, cooperation on the supply and joint production of the Russian vaccine against coronavirus “Sputnik V”, as well as in the field of technical regulation and retail.

At the end of 2020, bilateral trade between Russia and Uzbekistan showed positive dynamics and amounted to USD 5.88 billion, an increase of 15.6%. Russian exports to Uzbekistan increased by more than 19% to USD 4.66 billion, imports increased by 3.7% to USD 1.22 billion. A significant part of Russian exports is accounted for by industrial products. Only deliveries of machinery, equipment and vehicles accounted for 25% of Russian exports – more than 1 billion US dollars.

During the meeting, they also discussed the preparations for the exhibition “Innoprom. Big Industrial Week in Uzbekistan ”and noted its importance for the development of bilateral relations and deepening industrial cooperation between the two countries.

In addition, the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia highly appreciated the work of the Russian-Uzbek project office, indicating the high relevance and demand for this cooperation mechanism.

“Now in its“ orbit ”there are 27 joint initiatives, we approved them on December 4 last year in Tashkent. Our colleagues regularly “synchronize clocks” on all projects, ”said Denis Manturov

The event “Innoprom. Big Industrial Week in Uzbekistan ”will be held in Tashkent from 5 to 7 April this year.
